According to a survey published Thursday, just over 30 percent of consumers are planning special editions. The most common gift for Mother’s Day is flowers, with about 65 percent of those surveyed wanting to give or send a bouquet. About 48 percent said they would like to give a food gift.
Flowers are the most common gift
Mothers also often receive gift cards, decorative items, perfume, cosmetics and jewelry, according to the study. The turnover of 973 million euros translates into an average spending of 17 euros per consumer who shops for Mother’s Day.
«Mother’s Day is a well-established buying moment and an important sales stimulus, especially for the flower trade. But other retail sectors can also benefit from this,” says HDE General Manager Stefan Genth. (AFP)
