You feel transported to the planet Tatooine in the Star Wars universe. But the new ‘Sunday Homes’ settlement is in the Texan desert. But like the residences in Luke Skywalker’s homeland, the houses are usually built in the round igloo style or in the shape of a box. It involves about 40 houses and a hotel from the 3D printer – the first settlement of its kind.
The start-up Icon is currently building the new luxury commune based on the designs of the Danish Bjarke Ingels Group. The walls are made of a mixture of concrete, plastic, aluminum and calcium and can be installed in just 48 hours. The on-site hotel consists of residential units arranged around an infinity pool. The homeowners of the settlement can use this.
The main attraction is the Fake Prada boutique
Icon offers the condominiums – they are between 120 and 220 square meters in size – at the foot of the Davis Mountains for sale from $ 900,000 (equivalent to 800,000 francs). This is how much the smallest variant with two bedrooms costs. To secure one of the houses, a bail of $ 5,000 (4,400 francs) is sufficient for the time being. Buyers can move in from the second half of 2024.
Sunday Homes is located outside the tourist town of Marfa, which has a population of 2000 and is considered a center for minimalist art. However, the main attraction is a fake Prada boutique that has been around since 2005. (jmh)
