Sararat R. is said to have killed up to twenty friends and acquaintances between December 2020 and April 2023.

The accusations are harsh. According to a report by the “Bangkok Post”, Sararat R.* (36) is accused of poisoning and sometimes killing up to 20 friends and acquaintances.

According to the police, R., who is four months pregnant, committed the crimes between December 2020 and April 2023 and used cyanide.

Autopsy convicted her as the culprit

Investigators tracked down the woman after her friend died of a heart attack two weeks ago in Ratchaburi province, west of Bangkok. The two would have participated in a Buddhist protection ritual there.

Because the deceased’s parents had doubts about the cause of death, they requested an autopsy. And indeed: the investigation showed that someone must have contributed to the death of her daughter. Cyanide was found in her body.

Police found cyanide in her pocket

The girlfriend and now suspected serial killer quickly became the focus of investigators. When the police found a bottle with the poison in her bag, the 36-year-old was immediately arrested. Up to 20 similar deaths have now been proven.

Apparently, the woman, who parted with a senior police officer, killed for financial reasons. The investigators got valuable insights from another victim of the serial killer. The woman accidentally survived the poisoning after eating together because she vomited shortly after eating. Striking: shortly before dinner, the woman had lent her ‘boyfriend’ 250,000 baht (about 6,500 francs).

Serial killer is considered a fugitive

R. would also have used the riches of the murdered without restraint. Relatives said jewelry and hundreds of thousands of baht in cash were stolen from the dead.

The alleged serial killer, meanwhile, denies all allegations. She is now in a women’s prison. Because she is believed to be at risk of absconding, she cannot be released on bail. (ceded)
