The wife of a senior police officer has been arrested in Thailand’s capital Bangkok for allegedly murdering nine people with poison. As the police announced on Wednesday, the woman allegedly committed the crimes over a period of several years and used cyanide to do so. Money is suspected as a motive, police spokesman Archayon Kraithong told AFP news agency.
“The autopsy showed that there was cyanide in the bodies,” said Thailand’s deputy police chief Surachate Hakparn, 53. The presumed tenth victim of the series of murders had survived the poisoning by vomiting. According to detectives, it was a woman who had eaten with the suspect and is also married to a police officer.
Woman poisoned girlfriend
A bottle of cyanide was found with her during the arrest of the suspect, who, according to local media, is married to a deputy director of the provincial police. However, she denies all allegations against her.
Investigators tracked down the woman after her boyfriend collapsed and died two weeks ago in Ratchaburi province, west of Bangkok. When the suspects were questioned, there were indications that they had also committed cyanide killings in two other provinces. (AFP)
