The doorbell rings and a courier stands outside with an envelope. What now? Open the door of course! Or?
Normally yes. But in a case that took place in mid-April in East Haven, Connecticut, things could have ended badly. The man at the door was not a postman, but an armed robber. The orange vest and the envelope? Only disguise – part of his criminal plan.
The homeowner, the potential victim, was unimpressed by the insidious plan. Here’s the video that was recorded by his doorbell camera (and later fatal for the robber):
Thanks to the camera recordings, the perpetrators were later arrested by the police with the help of the Facebook community. They wanted to break into the house, tie up and rob the occupants. They have been charged on several counts and the hearing is scheduled for April 26. (lzo)
