In Berlin, two perpetrators robbed a store and took them hostage on Monday evening.

On Monday evening there was a large-scale deployment of special forces in Berlin. According to “Bild”, an antique shop was attacked in Berlin-Schoeneberg around 5:30 pm. The two perpetrators not only seriously injured a woman, but also arrested a hostage after the attack.

Since 6 pm, special forces such as the SEK (special task force) are on duty due to a “threat situation on the ground”. As the newspaper writes, one of the two perpetrators would have surrendered at 8 p.m. and asked the police. More than six hours later, the emergency services were able to give the signal: around 2:40 am, the SEK managed to storm the store and free the hostage. It is still unclear what happened to the second perpetrator. (dzc/AFP)
