Long prison sentence for woman in New York for attempted murder with cheesecake

A woman from Russia has been sentenced to a long prison term in the US for attempting to poison a woman who closely resembled her with a cheesecake and rob her of her identity.

A woman in New York wanted to poison a very similar woman with a cheesecake.

A New York court sentenced Viktoria N to 21 years in prison on Wednesday for attempted murder. A jury found her guilty in February. “A ruthless and calculating con artist is serving a lengthy prison sentence for attempting to gain personal gain and advantage through murder,” said prosecutor Melinda Katz.

Not only did the 47-year-old look exceptionally like her victim at the time of the crime, the women also both speak Russian. According to the jury, Viktoria N. had visited her 35-year-old double in August 2016 and had brought a cheesecake with her. The victim ate it, felt unwell and passed out. A friend discovered the American citizen a day later – drugs were spread around the unconscious woman to commit suicide.

The victim was poisoned with very powerful narcotics.

The victim survived the poison attack. Upon returning from the hospital, the woman discovered that her passport and her Social Security card, which is extremely important for ID in the United States, had disappeared. She alerted the police, who analyzed the cheesecake and found a very powerful narcotic in it. (oee/sda/afp)
