The court of Baden AG has sentenced a man (56) to 15 years in prison for murder. The Swiss stabbed a man († 74) with a knife in Spreitbach AG, whom he saw as a rival for the love of a woman.
The court passed the verdict unanimously, it said at the opening of the verdict early Wednesday evening. The court also convicted the man of trespassing and property damage.
The defense pleaded for self-defense
He received a suspended fine of 60 daily rates of 30 francs. He was acquitted of making threats. The verdict is not yet legally binding. According to the court, the Swiss man killed the German on February 12, 2022 with 15 stab and cut wounds. The motive was jealousy. The bloody deed happened in the downstairs apartment of the woman who was not present.
The public prosecutor had demanded a prison sentence of 17 years for murder against the perpetrator. He spoke of an unscrupulous execution of the crime.
Defense lawyers wanted an acquittal of murder and threats. He pleaded for self-defense. He applied for a six-month suspended prison sentence for material damage and trespassing or a fine. According to the defense, it is beyond dispute that the victim died at the hands of the 56-year-old.
During the two-day trial, the convict said he could not remember how the bloody crime took place. That morning he was under the influence of sleeping pills. He only has a few pictures in front of him. The man himself had three stab wounds. Police found two knives, but there were no signs of a fight. (SDA)
