Denmark confirms t-online investigation into the Nord Stream attack: There are 112 photos of Russian ships at the scene of the crime. They were made by the Danish Navy four days before the explosions. This is evident from a message in the Danish daily newspaper “Information”. The Danish Ministry of Defense confirmed the existence of the images, but wants to keep them secret to protect intelligence work.

Ships from Kaliningrad

Three weeks ago, t-online reported exclusively on special vessels of the Russian army with cranes and mini-submarines, which would have headed for the crime scene northeast of Bornholm on September 21 and 22, 2022.

Some of the information from security circles could be reconstructed using satellite images and position databases. The Danish and Swedish armed forces were also patrolling at the time. Now it is clear: the Danish patrol boat Nymphen later stumbled upon the Russian army at the crime scene.

“Information” had “requested access to the images and video recordings of Russian ships made on September 22, 2022 aboard P524 Nymphs,” the newspaper writes. To which the Ministry of Defense confirmed that it had identified 112 photos “which are covered by your application (…)”. However, access cannot be granted because they are “part of the intelligence work”. The ministry has not provided any further information.

Sweden suspects state actors

The explanation fits the picture: According to the “New York Times”, the Swedish and Danish investigators are suspicious of the leads the German attorney general is following and feel pressured to refute the story that has become public through media reports . There is a “false flag” operation in the air, ie a trail deliberately laid to obscure the masterminds.

The perpetrators “acted in the knowledge that they would leave traces,” said prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist, who was responsible for the investigation in Sweden. Given the explosives used, a very large number of actors have been excluded. A state as mastermind behind the attacks is still the most likely scenario. His authority is cooperating with Denmark, among others, in the investigation.

“Various Attempts to Influence”

“Zeit” and ARD had reported that German investigators suspect that the sailing yacht “Andromeda” in particular is connected to the attack. Traces of a six-man crew led to Ukraine.

However, experts question many details of the thesis. Unconfirmed information from US intelligence about a “pro-Ukrainian group” allegedly acting on a private basis, reported by the “New York Times”, is met with equal skepticism.

An internationally circulated post on American journalist Seymour Hersh’s blog about the US as the mastermind behind the attacks is regarded as dubious and largely refuted. Ljungqvist said he would not comment on individual media reports, but many of the “hot theories” could easily be ruled out. “The incident has clearly become an open arena for various influence attempts.”

On September 26, 2022, explosions destroyed the German-Russian Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Deliveries had already stopped at that point and Germany had already decided to terminate Nord Stream 2. Investigators in Germany, Denmark and Sweden assume sabotage.
