There’s a millennium flood in Florida and here are the videos

Record-breaking amounts of rain have fallen in Florida in recent days, leading to widespread flooding. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is closed. Videos of stranded passengers, cars and a floating man circulated on social media.

More than two feet of rain fell in Fort Lauderdale in 24 hours. That’s about seven times the average for the entire month of April. This amount of precipitation occurs with a probability of 0.1 percent per year, or once every thousand years.

So far there have been no reports of deaths or serious injuries from the storm. (An)
