In the case of Rebecca Reusch, who has been missing for four years, there is a new development. According to television channel RTL, the police searched the home of the 15-year-old’s brother-in-law. The researchers focused on the family member early on. It is the building where the then 15-year-old stayed before she disappeared.
The spokesman for the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, Sebastian Büchner, tells RTL that a house search has been carried out for “the suspect who is being investigated”. He did not divulge further details, especially what officials were looking for.
According to research by RTL, acoustic measurements were carried out in the home – probably with the aim of finding out which sounds can escape to the outside. In addition, a bathrobe was found that apparently lacked a belt. This could be the focus of new investigations – as a possible murder weapon.
Some items are still missing since the Berliner’s disappearance: a white hoodie with the inscription “Rap Monster”, a black and white sneaker, a beige and pink handbag, a backpack and a fleece blanket.
Rebecca Reusch disappeared on February 18, 2019. She had spent the night at her sister’s and brother-in-law’s home and has not been seen since. The brother-in-law quickly became a suspect, but apparently there is no evidence. He was arrested twice, but was released each time. “We cannot and do not want to publicly discuss all the suspicions against the brother-in-law,” senior prosecutor Martin Steltner said two years ago. “It is also unfair to him. He is suspected but not convicted.”
The suspect told the police after the girl’s disappearance that she left the house in the morning. But researchers found no evidence for that. The brother-in-law’s car was captured moments later by a traffic camera on the highway towards Poland. But also a search and a call in the TV program “Aktenzeichen XY – unsolved” yielded no further results. The Berliner has disappeared to this day.
