At least 100 civilians have been killed in a military airstrike in Myanmar. Children were also among the victims, the Delta News Agency reported on Tuesday based on eyewitnesses. According to eyewitnesses, the number of casualties could rise.
The military junta’s forces fired rockets at the Pazigyi township in the Sagaing region in the center of the country in the morning (local time). The reason: It found one Opening ceremony for a new office of the anti-junta People’s Defense Forces instead of.
Residents said the military appeared to be waiting for the ceremony to launch the airstrike and hit as many people as possible. Many corpses were seen in photos on social networks.

Heavy fighting has recently broken out in the region between the army and armed groups opposing the junta. In February 2021, generals had seized power in the crisis country. Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested. The Nobel Peace Prize winner was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for various alleged crimes. The army cracks down on civilian protests and armed resistance by anti-junta militias across the country.
Myanmar’s shadow government (government of national unity) called it an “heinous act” in a statement, stressing that this was further evidence of the junta’s extreme violence against innocent civilians. In October last year, 80 people were killed in an air raid on a concert in Kachin state in the north of the country. Many more were injured.
