While others her age prefer to crochet, Bonnie G.* (78) does not want to retire. She prefers to keep robbing banks. The senior last struck Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri. She entered the bank alone. Dressed all in gray, gas mask, plastic gloves and sunglasses on his face, walked to the counter and handed the cashier a note. With the message: “This is a robbery, I need 13,000 small bills, thank you and sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Surveillance video shows the 78-year-old banging on the counter and telling the cashier to hurry up and give her the money, according to Cass County Attorneys. The woman allegedly advised the cashier not to count the money and “just give it to her”. That reports The Kansas City Star.
“A Little Old Lady”
With the money in his pocket, G. fled in an SUV. It’s just stupid that there was a disability card on her getaway car. Police quickly located the car. When the officers approached the vehicle, they couldn’t believe their eyes: “A little old lady got out. At first we weren’t sure we had the right person,” said police chief Tommy Wright. In his 30 years as a police officer, he has never arrested a bank robber his age. The bank employees were afraid of her, even though she didn’t show a gun.
But it is not her first robbery: the woman had to answer for a robbery in 1977 in court. How she acted at the time and what punishment she received is not clear. After that, however, it was no longer noticed, only 43 years later. On January 23, 2020, the police reportedly received a call from the lady’s son. He warned the police that his mother had gone mad and was planning to rob a bank. According to the police report, she would have demanded $ 3,000. The 78-year-old received a suspended sentence for her crime, which ended in November 2021. (lia)
