Rescuers have found a fifth and sixth body in the rubble after a building collapsed in the center of Marseille. The fire service announced this on Monday evening. In the night and in the morning, the emergency services had already found four dead among the rubble. There was initially no further information about the identity of the victims. Eight residents have been missing since the collapse. The search continued into the evening. A fire a few meters below the rubble initially made the operation considerably more difficult. According to the fire service, it is no longer a problem.
A four-storey house on Rue Tivoli in the fifth arrondissement of Marseille collapsed on Sunday night. Parts of the two neighboring houses were also demolished. A few hours later, one of the houses next door collapsed. The reason for the collapse was probably an explosion. Five people from neighboring properties were injured in the accident.
