Dalai Lama asked guys to suck his tongue – now he’s apologizing

The Dalai Lama has apologized for a video of him sticking his tongue out at a boy and asking him to suck it. The video, which has been circulated on the internet, shows the spiritual leader of Tibet kissing a boy on the mouth.

The 87-year-old then sticks out his tongue and asks the child, “Can you suck my tongue?”

“His Holiness would like to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends around the world, for any pain his words may have caused,” the Dalai Lama said in a statement on Twitter. He teases the people he meets, “often in an innocent and playful way, including in public and in front of cameras.”, it was said. “He regrets the incident.”

The recording comes from an event in the suburbs of the northern Indian city of Dharamshala on February 28. Twitter users described the video as “disgusting” and “absolutely sick”. after it went viral on Sunday.

Earlier apologies

She was “deeply shocked” by the Dalai Lama’s behavior, according to user Sangita. The priest has had to apologize in the past for his sexist remarks. “But saying to a little boy, ‘Lick my tongue’ is disgusting.”she wrote.

The Dalai Lama advocates for Tibet’s autonomy from China and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. After that he received numerous invitations and met heads of state and Hollywood stars.

Attention to him has declined somewhat recently, which has been attributed to the Dalai Lama’s declining travel activity, but also to China’s growing economic and political influence. (saw/sda/afp)
