Has Russia rigged fighter jets for Ukraine?

The delivered MiG-29 jets from the west cannot be used by Ukraine.

Ukraine has received the first deliveries of fighter jets from Poland and Slovakia in recent days. Now it comes out: the jets delivered from Slovakia are not operational. Although they can fly, they are not suitable for combat at the front. This was said by the Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslaw Nad (42) in the presence of parliament, the British “Telegraph” reports.

Reason: The jets would have been manipulated by Russia! The few defective parts found in the MiG-29 machines were installed by Russian technicians. Until last year they worked at various air bases in Slovakia.

Police are now investigating suspected sabotage, Nad said. “The jets can fly. But that doesn’t mean they can also be used for combat,” said the Slovak defense minister.

No deliveries from the US and Germany

But the damage must be repairable, Nat promises. Ukraine has all the means to make the jets airworthy anyway. “They have pilots, spare parts and a company that has been working on MiGs since Soviet times.”

According to Slovak deputy army chief Lubomir Swoboda (61), the Russian technicians were stationed in Slovakia “as part of a long-term agreement”. Russia would have “more know-how” in maintaining the aircraft.

The delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine is controversial. Kiev has been pushing for the delivery of American F-16 jets for months. The White House has so far rejected such a delivery. Germany has also rejected such deliveries so far. (zis)
