They were actually supposed to protect the walls of the youth care center St. Joseph in Wunsiedel (D). But this is exactly where Lena* († 10) was murdered last week.
On Tuesday morning, a caretaker discovered the girl’s half-naked body. According to police investigations, an eleven-year-old boy who also lives in the house is said to be responsible for the crime.
How such a terrible act could have happened is still a matter of investigation.
“And that in a home that should be supervised”
“I am stunned, speechless. I can’t understand why it happened this way. And that in a home where supervision should be. Where you as a parent think everything is fine,” says Sandra B.*, neighbor and confidante of Lena’s father, against «Bild»
Actually, Lena shouldn’t have been home last week. A ski camp arrived with the other kids. In the end, however, the girl did not go and stayed at home with children and young people from other groups.
The confidante cannot understand that Lena has stayed behind in the house. Because her father would have liked to take her home for the Easter holidays. “She would have had the chance to go to her father.”
Bruising
The girl’s parents separated when she was five years old. Lena moves with her mother to a village near the Czech border.
Lena would have had problems with her mother’s new partner. Her body would have bruises. In the end, youth care came along. Last October Lena came to the youth center in Wunsiedel.
Perpetrators housed in secure facility
The motive behind the crime is currently unknown. Evidence initially pointed to three boys. Now only one, an eleven-year-old boy, is the target of the detectives. The police would have found him through a DNA trace.
Since the alleged perpetrator has not yet reached the age of criminal responsibility, he was preventively placed in a secure facility. It is currently unclear whether other parties are involved. (ceded)
