For 20 years, an Austrian (46) traveled to Switzerland to drop off blue-eyed senior citizens. She stole several hundred thousand francs from her victims. That is why the woman had to answer to the court in Miles ZH on Thursday.

According to the Zürichsee-Zeitung, the woman had approached strangers in several places in Switzerland and asked them for money under a false name. She had told them stories about her supposed financial problems. Her lies were apparently so credible that a 78-year-old senior handed her a total of 226,000 francs. She received 8,000 francs from another man for alleged breast cancer therapy. Between 2013 and 2022, she pocketed at least 280,000 francs.

Bought an apartment

The woman had told her victims, among other things, that she lived in poverty in eastern Croatia. She even lives in Vienna. There she worked as a cleaner, she tells the court. Because her wages were so modest, she started begging in Switzerland. She then used the money to buy a 65 square meter condominium in Vienna. She also financed her partner’s gambling addiction.

The prosecutor had accused her of specifically targeting older people from religious backgrounds for her machinations. The woman denied, claiming that she had not specifically chosen her victims and that all those affected had voluntarily given her the money.

The court gave little credence to this statement and sentenced her to 24 months in prison for commercial fraud. Because 18 of them are on probation and she has been detained since October, the Viennese will be released in April. Then she must leave Switzerland immediately and may not enter Switzerland for 15 years. (man)
