“The only crime I have committed is that I have fearlessly defended our nation against those who would destroy our country. It is an affront to our country,” said Donald Trump, 76, after his return from indictment in New York. He was invited to the speech at his private residence, Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
Trump is the first former president in US history to face criminal charges. He has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business documents in a hush money scandal and has pleaded not guilty.
“Your silence is deliberate, it’s your weapon”
The former American president likes to be in the spotlight and does not shy away from confrontation. Unlike his wife Melania Trump (52). She appears to have gone into hiding and is not commenting on the allegations against her husband. Melania is silent – and for a reason, as her former advisor and ex-girlfriend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff (52) reveals. “Melania lives in an ivory tower of denial,” she tells the American portal “Page Six”.
That’s why Wolkoff didn’t expect to see her next to Donald Trump during his speech at Mar-a-Lago. “Her silence is deliberate. It’s her weapon of choice and her armor.”
Disputed over $26 million
According to Wolkoff, Melania Trump feels the entire scandal was staged to harm her husband — out of jealousy. Therefore, the 52-year-old is currently trying to avoid public appointments. She absolutely does not want to say anything about her husband. “Melania feels like she doesn’t have to answer anyone or explain herself, so she won’t put herself in that position.”
Wolkoff and Melania met in Manhattan in 2003 and quickly became close friends and business partners. But in 2018 the friendship was over. There was a dispute over the $26 million Wolkoff’s firm received to plan Trump’s inauguration. (jmh)
