An avalanche tore a house and shed into the sea in Norway.

Four people died in several avalanches in Norway. The accidents took place in the north of the country, the local police announced on Friday. Among the fatalities is at least one foreign tourist.

In the afternoon, according to the police, five tourists were initially hit by an avalanche near the Kavringtinden summit. The foreign tourists went on excursions in the area. One of them died in the avalanche, police said. Two others were reportedly injured, one of them seriously. According to the administration, the group of tourists came from Italy. However, it has not been confirmed that the deceased is Italian.

‘Person was part of a larger group of foreign travelers’

Soon after, police said they were aware of another avalanche on the nearby island of Reinöya. There, two people were killed when an avalanche tore a house and a shed into the sea. According to the police, there were about 140 goats in the barn at the time of the accident.

Later on Friday, police reported that a fourth person had been killed in another avalanche. The accident happened on a river in the North Reisa area. “The person was part of a larger group of foreign travelers,” the police said. Another member of the group found the victim and alerted the emergency services. The police initially gave no information about the nationality. (AFP)
