More than 30 people were rescued after an avalanche in Ecuador

More than 30 people were being rescued by this Tuesday afternoon after the avalanche that devastated part of the city last Sunday Alausiin the middle Andes in Ecuadorwhere they are currently counted eight dead.

Fire brigades from eight different cities participate in rescue operations, as well as teams of rescue specialists, who are joined by employees of other state institutions and local residents who try to help with handy tools.

The possibility of a large landslide had already been noticed and reported to the authorities last December by the residents of Alausí, when several cracks were discovered on the hill that over the course of weeks exceeded one meter in width.

The National Secretariat for Risks He claims that on March 11, he sent a technical report to the governor (government envoy) of Chimborazo province and the mayor of Alausí recommending and requesting the evacuation of the population, among other measures.
