In some criminal cases, only Commissioner Chance can help. Not with this murder in India: In February 2014, a woman and her dog were brutally murdered. Then her house was robbed. The only witness: a parrot.
The woman was home alone while her husband was at a wedding with their two children. Although there were several suspects for a long time after the robbery and murder, the police had no clear evidence and could not determine who the perpetrators were.
The case seemed hopeless when the victim’s husband suddenly noticed that the parrot was no longer eating or drinking. He began to suspect that the bird might have seen the murder. The widower listed all the names of possible suspects. And indeed: the animal screamed for the name of the nephew of the couple. This is reported by India Today.
The cousin confessed to killing his aunt
The Indian became suspicious and asked the police to question the cousin. He admitted to committing the crime with a friend. The killer and his accomplice were arrested. The motive for the murder would have been financial gain.
Now, nine years later, the verdict has been announced: a special judge sentenced the nephew and his acquaintance to life imprisonment and a fine of 810 euros. (A)
