First he drags the activist off the street, then he kicks him with full force – right in the stomach. A truck driver went completely crazy in Hamburg (D). Activists from the group “Last Generation” sat on the Elbe bridges in the city center on Saturday and blocked traffic. They stuck to the asphalt with fast-hardening concrete.
Too much for the truck driver. He got out of his cabin and attacked the activists, according to a video posted to Twitter by the “Last Generation”. After the stairs, the furious driver wants to get back into his truck, but the video shows a man saying something to him. The truck driver then sprints after her and yells, “Piss off!”.
The “last generation” has been protesting for much stricter climate protection measures for about a year now. It mainly relies on blocking roads and airports, with activists remaining on site. But there were also high-profile protests at ministries, museums and concert halls.
National strike to paralyze Germany
The roadblocks in particular cause motorists to turn red. There are always freaks. A video of a man shouting angrily at activists sitting in the street caused an uproar on Wednesday. “Go away!” shouts the man and then steps towards the climate activists.
Emotions are running high right now. Because: on Monday, a nationwide strike would paralyze Germany. The Verdi and EVG unions have called for nationwide warning strikes. They will probably largely shut down train and air traffic. Deutsche Bahn wants to completely stop long-distance traffic and also expects serious restrictions in regional traffic.
Regional public transport should also be affected by other means of transport, such as buses. There would be hardly any passenger flights on Mondays at most of the larger airports and even on Sundays in Munich. Other areas of public service are also affected, such as nurseries. (jmh/AFP)
