A man deliberately drove into a group of people at Kön/Bonn airport on Friday.

A motorist injured several pedestrians in a parking garage at Cologne/Bonn airport in western Germany on Friday. He drove towards people, but they could have avoided him, says a spokesman for the local police.

No one is in danger, the injuries are usually minor. The 57-year-old driver has been arrested and is in hospital. He is believed to be mentally ill.

“He apparently drove into several cars and pedestrians, who were probably able to avoid him,” said the spokesman. “We are currently talking about multiple injuries.” Two police officers were also slightly injured because the man resisted his arrest.
