This was announced by the United Nations Children’s Fund on Friday. About 2.2 million girls and boys suffered from acute malnutrition. More than 540,000 of them are so severely affected that without treatment their lives are in immediate danger.

According to the United Nations, more than 11,000 children were killed or seriously injured between March 2015 and November 2022. “Eight years of brutal violence and civil war have devastated the lives of millions of children in Yemen,” said UNESCO. If the global community does not take immediate action, the risk of malnutrition for girls and boys will increase even further.

The conflict in Yemen and its aftermath are among the worst humanitarian disasters in the world. In the country, troops of exiled Sunni President Abd Rabbo Mansur Hadi have been fighting against Shiite Houthi rebels for years.
