Dressed in colorful clothing, she is sitting relaxed on a chair, her hands on her stomach and a scarf wrapped around her head. Nathalie Yamb (54) addresses the camera with a confident smile and a soft voice. Swiss-Cameroonian dual citizenship is spreading Kremlin propaganda, according to a report published Wednesday in the “Tribune de Geneve”.
She calls the Russian invasion a “Nato-Russia war” caused by “the repeated aggression of Americans and Europeans (…) against the Russian people”. In May 2022, she described the Ukrainians as “riddled with neo-Nazis”. Both are demonstrably wrong.
Connections to Prigozhin?
Not only with regard to Ukraine, the influencer takes over the political views of the Kremlin. In a recent video published on YouTube, she spoke of a “war of civilizations” in which “adherents of sexual and gender imperialism” would wage their “wokeism” against those who advocate for “traditional values.”
That sounds a lot like Russian President Vladimir Putin, 70, who says that Russia and Africa are united in defense of “moral norms and social values”. Yamb is said to have ties to the Afric project developed by Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (61). The aim of the Afric project emerges from a PowerPoint presentation by a Wagner agent seized in Libya: to promote the Russian agenda under the guise of an influencer network. The funds for the project would come “from anonymous sources via cryptocurrencies”.
Yamb has more than 500,000 followers on Facebook, 250,000 people have subscribed to her YouTube channel, and nearly 270,000 people follow her on Twitter. The tweets of the influencer who grew up in La-Chaux-de-Fonds NE and lives in Zug are shared thousands of times. In her videos she represents other bizarre statements. Thus, the UN and the European Union would wage an imperialist war against Africa. A request from Blick has so far gone unanswered.
Entry ban in France
The daughter of a Cameroonian and a Swiss woman made the news in the past because Ivory Coast deported her to Switzerland. At the 2019 Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Russia, she criticized the government in the West African country.
Since last year she is no longer allowed to enter France. There are many reasons for the measure: it compared former French presidents to Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) and supports anti-French African regimes. The US State Department issued a warning against Yamb in November 2022 because it belongs to Yevgeny Prigozhin’s African network. (nad)
