California was hit by a fierce winter storm on Tuesday. The extreme weather conditions killed at least five people. According to the city of San Francisco, two people died on Wednesday from injuries sustained during the extreme weather. In Oakland, a homeless man was found dead in his tent after it was hit by a fallen tree, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
In the Contra Costa neighborhood, a large tree fell on a moving car. One of the two occupants has died, reports the local fire service. A person in their vehicle was also killed in this way in Portola Valley.
The heavy rains and squalls caused damage across much of Northern California.
