In the evangelical church, the pastor gives a moving speech to hundreds.

“You mourn, our town of Freudenberg mourns, and the whole country.” With these words, Reverend Thomas Ijewski opened the funeral service for Luise F. († 12) on Wednesday evening – the girl who was brutally stabbed to death by two alleged friends (12 and 13) in the local forest in mid-March. “Today we are here, with her coffin. To remember Luise together. To say goodbye to her,” says Ijewski.

Hundreds of relatives, friends and neighbors flocked to the evangelical church in Freudenberg. The first came at 5:15 pm. Shortly before 6:00 PM, Luise’s parents drove up in a black car, got out right in front of the church door, and entered the church. In the afternoon, however, an undertaker had brought the coffin to the church.

“God, we complain to You about the great need”

Pastor Ijewski: «Luise’s life ended in such a terrible way. Her unstoppable joy, her laughter and her fury – all that is missing. Missing from her parents’ house, missing from class, missing from our town. God, we lament your need, the great need! We would have loved to guide them into the future, looking forward to school trips, meeting their first boyfriend, choosing a career and maybe starting a family. It’s all over now before it started.”

The song “Planes made of paper” by Sarah Connor (42) was played in the church. The song lines: “You were just with me. You just stood next to me.” In addition, Zita’s song “Dancing in the Sky” was heard.

“We’re All So Shocked”

Many people also say goodbye at the crime scene itself. In the grove are angels, stuffed animals and painted heart-shaped stones. And a letter: “Dear Luise, since you left, it feels like the world has stopped turning right. We are all so deeply shocked. You were such a heart person,” it read.

Walkers stop again and again to lay flowers. They light candles and shake their heads in dismay. (two)
