Silverstar, Bluefire, Swiss Bobsled Track and maybe soon: the balloon flight in Liechtenstein. The Europa-Park in Rust is currently presenting a number of novelties. At least when it comes to YouTubers.
They report that the Liechtenstein subject area will be planted right next to Switzerland – including a mini version of the Liechtenstein Trail and, of course, the hot air balloon ride. However, this is not a novelty in itself, but the revival of the “Flight of Icarus”, which is currently in “Greece”. The principality must be placed on the place of the lake in “England”, which will be pumped out.
Europa-Park does not want to confirm these innovations to the Liechtenstein “fatherland” (paywall) – but does not want to deny them either. A media conference is scheduled for Thursday.
Resistance to “Europe Valley”
Europa-Park recently made the news with another innovation. In the French Alsace – directly on the other side of the Rhine – a 150 to 250 hectare extension of the successful amusement park would be built. The Europa Valley project has been in the pipeline for several years.
The new park would be considerably larger than the existing one in terms of area. It has an area of 95 hectares. The two parks are connected by a cable car over the Rhine. This had caused a storm of enthusiasm from French President Emmanuel Macron.
However, the project was not well received by various residents and environmental groups. In view of climate change and the disappearance of animal species, the project for a second Europapark is no longer on time.
Both German and French nature and environmental organizations have announced opposition to the “Valley of Europe”. A petition from the Alsatian citizens’ initiative “Collectif le chaudron des alternatives” is supported by the southern Baden initiative “Now it’s enough!” supports. Hundreds of people have already signed the petition. (aeg)
