Polish ambassador: “If Ukraine fails, we must join the war”

The Polish ambassador to France said in a TV interview that Poland must go to war if Ukraine does not want to defend itself. His own message then asked not to twist and dramatize his words.

In the conversation, Jan Emeryk Rościszewski said that the pressure in Europe is not increasing because of NATO, Poland or Slovakia, but only because of Russia and the invasion of Ukraine. It is Russia that robs, kills and kidnaps children. Therefore:

“Either Ukraine defends its independence today or we have no choice but to join this conflict.”

Because ‘our’ values, which form the basis of culture and civilization, are in danger. So there really is no choice but to join the conflict.

Polish embassy claws back

After the interview went live, the embassy released a statement that Rościszewski’s statement had been interpreted “out of context” by certain media outlets.

«During a 30-minute interview, Ambassador Rościszewski discussed the need for aid to Ukraine. He also spoke about the threat to Europe and the European values that Russia represents […]

However, a careful listening reveals that no direct Polish involvement in the conflict has been announced, only a warning of the consequences that a Ukrainian defeat would entail: the possibility of a Russian attack or the involvement of several Central European countries – the Baltic States or Poland. »

Furthermore, the embassy emphasized in its statement that the ambassador had said very clearly in the interview that Poland was not at war at the moment. But everything is done to support the defense of Ukraine.
