On Saturday, 2,000 to 3,000 people gathered at the Bundesplatz in Bern to demonstrate for peace. Critics of the Corona measures had called for the rally, and they were supported by various organizations.
The approved demonstration is “not directed against Ukraine and not against Russia,” it said in an appeal. “We are demonstrating for humanity and thus for peace between all peoples.” This requires negotiations instead of tanks and diplomacy instead of sanctions.
The driving force behind the rally was the Corona measures-critical movement Massavoll. But anyone who sincerely advocates for peace is welcome to the peace demonstration, said Mass President Nicolas A. Rimoldi.
National Councilor Andreas Glarner (SVP/AG) and David Trachsel, President of the Young SVP Switzerland, also announced their participation. (sda)
