US Congress votes to release intelligence information on Corona Ford also wants to cut 1,100 jobs in Spain

The US Congress wants intelligence information about the origin of the coronavirus to be made public. The House of Representatives voted unanimously in favor of the bill on Friday. The Senate had previously voted in favour. The law will not go into effect until US President Joe Biden signs it into law.

There is reason to believe that the corona pandemic originated in a lab in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, the text said. That is why the US intelligence coordinator must release and make public “as much information as possible” about the origin of the virus.

According to the latest information from the White House, the US government does not yet have a clear picture of the origin of the virus. Some US agencies, such as the FBI, still believe the virus was likely transmitted naturally, while others are still undecided or believe it was a lab error.

“The FBI has long assumed that the origin of the pandemic is most likely a possible lab incident in Wuhan,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a recent interview. However, the White House stressed that the investigations are not yet complete.

The vote in the House of Representatives is now also remarkable because such bipartisan approval in the House of Representatives is very rare. Should Democrat Biden sign the bill, the requested information would have to be provided to Congress within 90 days. Edits to the report may then only be made to protect secret services sources and practices. China has always denied allegations of a possible lab accident. (sda/dpa)
