Shortly before 3 a.m., an ATM exploded in the municipality of Belfaux FR in the Saane district, the Fribourg cantonal police announced on Friday. The perpetrators stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled in an unknown direction.
The cantonal police of Fribourg, Vaud and Bern had launched a search in vain. The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security was also instructed to control the borders. According to the statement, the federal police, a group of the Vaud police specializing in explosives and the Zurich Forensic Institute were also involved.
The deployment of these different police forces is customary in such a case, a spokesman for the Freiburg cantonal police said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. The Attorney General is leading the investigation. (SDA)
