Trump would supposedly end the war immediately

While many military and security experts agree that the war in Ukraine is likely to last longer, former US President Donald Trump, 76, has been boasting for months that he knows a quick fix to stop the dying.

“We are on the verge of a third world war in Ukraine. And we need a peace deal now. I would have a peace deal within 24 hours,” he claimed in late January in a speech. He does not explain – until now – exactly how he would envision this deal.

If he were president, all he had to do was let Russia “take over some parts of Ukraine,” he said in a live interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. That is not a new idea, nor one that Ukraine would currently accept.

“There are regions where Russian is spoken”

Trump also boasted that war in Ukraine would never have broken out if he was still the US president. Trump praised himself for not invading Ukraine during his term. “Even though I didn’t even negotiate a deal. I could have negotiated. Worst case scenario I would have made a deal with Russia to annex something. There are regions where Russian is spoken, honestly a deal could have been Closed.”

Apparently that was too much of a good thing for Fox News as well. As the Daily Beast reports, the broadcaster cut the 30 seconds in which the former US president describes his plan from moderator Hannity’s prime-time program, which aired later.
