You are tired of killing, of dying, of this senseless war. A group of Russian soldiers defy the orders of their superiors. Video footage of Russian reservists refusing to be transferred back to the front appeared on social media on Wednesday. The recruits complain that they are being sent “to the slaughter”.

The soldiers claim in the clip that their officers would openly call them “meat”. They would only be treated as “cannon fodder”.

“We are being sent to certain death,” they shout. And they wouldn’t know for whom or what for. “We’d better go to goddamn prison. Put everyone in prison, we’ll stay there,” one of them explains. Nobody goes back to the front.

suicides in their own ranks

“We don’t give a fuck. At least then we’ll live and not throw away the rest of our lives. 5, 7 or 10 years. We’re ready,” they continue to claim. If necessary, they flee on foot or by taxi.

The soldiers emphasize that they are fighting to defend Russian territory. At the same time, they would refuse to attack Ukrainian villages.

Some soldiers were so desperate that they committed suicide. A recruit reports that he reported this to his commanding officer. In turn, he was not interested.

Mobilized people ask Putin for help

At the end of February, a similar video of mobilized people from Irkutsk appeared. They criticized the way their command treated them and asked the elect Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (70) for help. “We ask you to obey the command’s lawless and criminal orders,” the men demanded.

The Russian offensive war in Ukraine is taking a heavy toll in blood. The tactic of sending wave after wave of poorly equipped and poorly trained mobilized men to the front proved quite successful, for example for the Wagner mercenary unit at Bachmut. NATO boss Jens Stoltenberg (63) warned on Wednesday that the city could fall within days.
