The authorities of the self-proclaimed Moldavian Republic of Transnistria they managed to prevent an attack on their presidentVadim Krasnoselski, allegedly by members connected to Ukrainian intelligence who would admit their plans to the newspaper Ziarul National.

“A major attack was prevented in Transnistria. Officials and bystanders were the target. The number of victims could be measured in dozens.. The organizer of the attack is the Security Service of Ukraine. The suspects have been taken into custody,” Telegram reported on the First channel of local television.

According to Efe, the authorities claimed responsibility for the attack they planted 8 kilograms of explosives in a Land Rover car parked in the city center. “They planned the explosion to coincide with the passing of a Transnistrian official,” state security said, without specifying who the victim was supposed to be.

In addition to explosives, the charge carried screws, nuts and pieces of wire that injured a large number of people. “The impact radius of this amount of explosives is hundreds of meters”, marked the entity. State security identified the perpetrator of the attempted attack, a 43-year-old Transnistrian who lives in the Ukrainian city of Odessa.

After the start of the Russian military campaign in neighboring Ukraine, Transnistria, on whose territory important arsenals of the Russian peacekeeping forces are located, was exposed to sabotage or faced the threat of involvement in the conflict.

Last February, Russia warned that Ukraine was preparing a “military provocation” against this territory, information that Kiev denied. Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski also denied the existence of a “real threat” from Ukraine.
