This is according to a special study by the Violence Monitor, which the media group “Globo” regularly compiles with the University of São Paulo and the Forum for Public Safety. Femicide is when a woman is killed because of her gender.
All in all, the number of all homicides in Latin America’s largest country fell slightly in the past year compared to the previous year. The femicide rate, on the other hand, is the highest since 2015.
