An applicant (22) for Austrian citizenship completed a memorable German test with an arrest instead of a new passport. As the police reported on Tuesday, the Iraqi took part in the language test for citizenship candidates in the Korneuburg district of Vienna under a false name and was also caught cheating. When a supervisor excluded him from the exam, he threatened the woman with a knife and stole her mobile phone.

The suspect fled, but called the test supervisor the following days and demanded money to get the phone back, they said.

Investigators found the man in the state of Upper Austria. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated theft and extortion. (SDA)
