Climate activist Greta Thunberg (20) was arrested on Wednesday morning in the Norwegian capital Oslo. This is reported by Reuters news agency.
Thunberg demonstrated with other activists in front of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance. Activists are calling for wind turbines to be removed from reindeer pastures on the lands of the Sami indigenous people in Central Norway.
Thunberg was apprehended by police officers and carried away as hundreds of protesters chanted slogans. According to reports, she was driven away in a police car.
In recent days, the climate activist and the protesters have blocked several entrances to ministries. The group is demanding that the wind turbines on reindeer pastures disappear because the animals are massively intimidated by the noise. Thunberg himself has been there since Monday, according to journalists. (zis)
