Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (70) has long had a good relationship with action film actor Steven Seagal (70), who is known for films such as ‘Hard to Kill’ and ‘Alert: Red’. The two are considered good friends. Seagal has also repeatedly spoken out in favor of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Putin is now rewarding this friendship service with an important medal. Seagal, who holds Russian citizenship in addition to American and Serbian citizenship, received the award for his “great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation,” according to a Kremlin statement released Monday.
Seagal’s political involvement began in 2013 when the Russian government approached him to lobby for the Russian arms industry. Today he is the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for relations with the USA and Japan.
Worshiped in Russia
The actor regularly adopts the line of Russian state propaganda. When he visited the Russian side of the war zone last year, the Russian media treated it as an event of the century. The two also like to present themselves in photos. There are countless reports and press releases where you can see them shaking hands, hugging or laughing together. (an/AFP)
