Mysterious flock of birds in Mexico scares people – but the explanation is simple “Red flag will fly in Berlin” – Putin’s propaganda show in Moscow

The TikTok video showing a flock of birds hovering around a housing development in Querétaro, Mexico sparked lively discussion on social media. The video has more than eleven million views and thousands of comments on TikTok alone.

Does the swarm indicate a coming environmental catastrophe? Or even the end of the world?

Scientists have now shed some light on the matter. Richard Prum, an ornithologist and evolutionary biologist at Yale University, explained that the flock could be blackbirds and that this behavior is completely normal for the birds.

Outside of breeding season, blackbirds congregate at night to protect themselves from predators, Prum said.

Chris Williams, associate principal and academic director of the Office of Sustainability at the University of Delaware, added, “The animals usually swarm by the thousands or millions between the sleeping and feeding areas.”

Prum also noted that no major natural disasters occurred in Mexico in the month the video was released.
