Many years after her father’s murder, a woman tracked down the alleged perpetrator via the Internet. Now the man in Pakistan has to answer for himself in court, the authorities reported on Friday. In 2008, then 44-year-old Mohamed Ahmed Amjad was murdered in the South Pakistani city of Karachi, police said shot dead by an employee after an argument at the workplace. The man then fled to Dubai, where he remained undiscovered for years, police said.
The fact that the suspect was eventually discovered is due to the coincidence that the daughter also moved to Dubai from Pakistan years later. The woman lived there, aged 15 when her father was killed, as a model and businesswoman. In 2020, she discovered a man’s profile on an internet platform and recognized him as her father’s alleged killer.
The now adult woman passed the information on to the police in Pakistan. The man was finally arrested in Dubai a few weeks ago. The woman had meanwhile drawn attention to the previously unpunished murder of her father on social media.
“It haunted me for fifteen years,” the daughter said on social media after the suspect’s arrest. (sda/dpa)
