A day after 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli military operation in the West Bank, multiple rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. Eyewitnesses in the Palestinian area and the Israeli army reported this on Thursday. The rockets were fired before dawn.
The Israeli army reported a total of six missiles. Five were intercepted by the Israeli defense screen and one fell into an uninhabited area. Eyewitnesses on the Palestinian side spoke of at least eight rockets being fired into the Gaza Strip.
The attacks were likely reprisals by radical Palestinian groups for the deadliest Israeli army operation in the occupied West Bank since 2005. At least 11 people were killed on Wednesday, according to Palestinian sources. According to the Palestinian government, more than 80 other people suffered gunshot wounds during the operation in Nablus.
