German police arrest man with 29 identities

For years, the police, with international and German arrest warrants, have been looking for a fraudster who had 29 different identities. The 53-year-old man managed to mislead the authorities for years – until now.

According to the police in Wadern, Germany, the perpetrator was arrested in the state of Saarland. The man was wanted for fraud and document offenses, among other things.

“The man managed to evade police access for years because he had used a total of 29 different alias personal data,” the officials write in a statement. Thanks to a tip from the population, the man eventually approached the police online.

Among other things, forged certificates with university degrees and other forged identity documents were seized during the house search. (dzc)
