The United Nations has called for restraint in the face of various allegations following the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 Baltic Sea pipelines. “We must avoid unfounded allegations that could further escalate already heightened tensions in the region and potentially hinder the search for the truth,” said UN chief for political affairs Rosemary. DiCarlo (75), Tuesday before the UN Security Council.
The United Nations could not confirm any of the claims. The results of the ongoing national investigations by Germany, Sweden and Denmark are awaited. The UN Security Council met on Tuesday at the request of Russia.
Seymour hersh causes commotion
According to Moscow, the explosions in September 2022, classified as sabotage, were aimed at Russia and Germany. The Kremlin accused the US of carrying out the attack.
There is no evidence of US involvement. However, Russian politicians have been busy for days with unsubstantiated claims by American journalist Seymour hersh (85) who wrote, citing a single anonymous source, that US Navy divers were responsible for the explosions in the Baltic Sea. The White House dismissed the report as fabrication. (SDA)
