Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver his State of the Union address on Tuesday. The Federal Assembly meets near the Kremlin. According to the Kremlin, Putin will address the war and the current situation in Russia. He also wants to comment on the economy and social policy. The Russian economy is under enormous pressure from the sanctions imposed by the West.

Last year’s speech was cancelled. Putin previously spoke mainly about domestic politics in these speeches. This time it is expected to discuss the war in Ukraine, which is called a “special military operation” in Russia. The patriarch is present, politicians, but also the army.

After almost two hours of speaking, it becomes clear that Putin did not bring much news in the speech about the state of the nation. The story that ran through the speech was well known: everyone is working against Russia, Russia is being isolated and the government and the people have no choice but to react. In Ukraine in particular, this was already experienced as “unworldly” during the speech.
