Nearly a year after the start of Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine, talks are focusing on the “watershed” associated with the war and the challenges to European security and foreign policy, as stated in a statement from the Federal Ministry of Defense , Civil Affairs, Protection and Sport (VBS) from Thursday means.
Amherd will meet, among others, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Austrian colleague Klaudia Tanner and participate in a panel discussion on the subject of “the turn of the century”.
Before the start of the Munich Security Conference, Amherd accepted the invitation of its Dutch counterpart, Minister of Defense Kajsa Ollongren, to participate in the first conference on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the military sector.
Federal Councilor Cassis will meet, among others, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis and the Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, as well as the new Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira. Both Switzerland and Brazil are currently non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
The Munich Security Conference will be held for the 59th time this year, once again bringing together high-ranking representatives from more than 30 countries. Government officials from Russia and Iran are not invited. Opposition members from both countries are expected in Munich.
