FBI searches former Vice President Mike Pence’s home for secret documents Amsterdam bans smoking weed in the streets of the old city

Following the discovery of classified government documents in the private home of former US Vice President Mike Pence, the FBI has searched the property, according to media reports. Former Vice President Donald Trump was not at the Indiana home at the time, but one of his lawyers was, CNN reported Friday.

The Republican’s house search comes as no surprise: the Justice Department and lawyers had reportedly reached an agreement earlier. Pence has assured his full cooperation.

It has been known since the end of January that files from his previous term of office have been found in the house of the 63-year-old. It was said that a lawyer discovered the documents. They were subsequently arrested by the federal police. Pence later said, “While I didn’t know this classified information was in our private home, let me be clear: This classified information was not supposed to be there.”

Documents with confidential markings from his time as vice president have also appeared in President Joe Biden’s private rooms in recent weeks. Findings from former President Donald Trump already caused a stir in the summer. Pence was Trump’s runner-up from 2017 to 2021. He is expected to run for the Republican presidential nomination. The election will take place in November 2024. (dab/sda/dpa)
