Climate adhesive flies to Bali by plane – and garners criticism for “double standards” Girl is reported to police for killing bugs – then honored by an elite university

Image motif: Berlin, November 18, 2022. This morning, climate activists glued themselves to the A113 outside the city at the BER airport. One of them was stuck with 2 part glue that...

From “hypocritical double standards”, the German “Bild” writes. And she shouts in italics: “This brutality infuriates us!”

Climate activists Luisa S. and her friend Yannick S. committed the brutality. The couple clung to the street in Stuttgart in September, holding up a banner reading “Save oil instead of drilling”. And barely two months later, the two flew by plane to Thailand and Bali, as the photo shows. And she calculates that the flight consumed about 140,000 liters of kerosene and emitted 7.9 tons of CO₂.

Everything was blown up because the two should have gone to court – because of the climate protest in September. Luisa was called as a witness, her partner as a defendant.

At the request of “Bild”, a spokesperson for the climate organization “Last Generation” justified the holiday trip:

“They booked the flight as a private person, not as a climate protector. You have to keep that apart.”

A Greenpeace spokesperson who was also contacted said:

“You have to think carefully about whether it should be a long journey by plane. We recommend local holiday destinations and travel by train.”

Incidentally, the three accused climate activists were each fined.
