Another part is added to the already curious Netflix series Tiger King: Don Lewis, ex-husband of protagonist and animal rights activist Carole Baskin, was found alive in Costa Rica.
The fact that this information is now leaking is special for at least two reasons. First, because Baskin said so, according to the New York Post, in an interview on the ITV talk show This Morning that surfaced more than a year ago.
Second, because Don Lewis disappeared in 1997 at the age of 59 and was pronounced dead in 2002.
Moreover, no one can now confirm whether Don Lewis is still alive or not. The New York Post has contacted Carole Baskin, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI for comment.
There is one now, but from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. This would not have received information from any party that would confirm the whereabouts of the missing Don Lewis. Hillsborough County continues to search for Lewis, as it does for all missing persons.
The dubious story originated in the first season of the highly successful Netflix series. Anyone who has seen Tiger King learns from Baskin that her ex-husband mysteriously disappeared in 1997. Baskin and Lewis would have been married at the time, after which she never heard from him again, according to CBS News. Joe Exotic, the second main character of Tiger King, has again claimed that Baskin was involved in the death of her ex-husband. Exotic is currently serving a 21-year sentence for hiring a hit man to take down Baskin.
Meanwhile, John M. Phillips, Joe Exotic’s lawyer, has also spoken out. The Don Lewis case was examined in detail during filming. All attempts to find him have failed.
Carole Baskin has always denied having anything to do with her ex-husband’s death. Whether Don Lewis is still alive or not remains unclear. (first)
